I'm fairly disappointed that I couldn't keep the 5900 due to it's video qualities. However, transport grinding is simply unexceptable behavior in a $2K player. Having found it in two players my guess is it's probably a bad batch of transports, however since Denon has not acknowledged the issue, and in fact, I was told by my retailer, that Denon reps came in to look at the player and having tried a few DVDs out on it, deemed it not "defective"; makes me wonder how interested they are in discovering the cause. I told them that the player did not have trouble on all DVDs it was about 20% of the ones I'd tried. If they were really serious about diagnosing the problem I could have brought in the DVDs that caused the player problems. Not my issue anymore though. Hopefully I'll have a much better experience with the Adcom player that will be replacing the Denon for DVD watching.
