Are you sure the DVD963SA you tested had the Bass Management Bypass on? If the Bass Management Bypass is set to off, it will convert DSD to PCM to handle the speaker size and time delay. And with that, the sound will get a different tonality. It'll be brighter. And setting the speakers to small has some other issues in this player.But remember, once you set the BM Bypass to on, you'll lose even time delay control.
