I posted about this earlier/above by mistake. Here is some info:I'm able to play the redbook CD layer just fine from my computer. I'm using WindowsXP on a machine I put together and can play it from my DVD ROM drive (Lite-On 163B). I've read elsewhere that 1st generation DVD ROM drives have problems with finding the CD layer on hybrids, but almost all 2nd generation ones and later have no problem with this.
1. Try updating your system to the latest drivers and patches.
2. Check your DVD drive manufacturer's sites for any firmware updates/patches - if there are any, apply them.
3. If still no luck, try getting a newer DVD drive for your machine - it should be able to play the redbook CD layer of the hybrid just fine.
