I have to completely disagree with your findings here. From the very first SACD disc I played, i was most impressed with the smooth and refined horn sound. Horns more than anything else, seemed the most "analog" to me, a point that was driven home after spinning some vinyl as a comparison. Perhaps its the software or maybe the entry-level Sony Player that's producing the harsh sound, all i know is, on every orchestral and ("horned")jazz SACD I own, the brass (and to a lesser extent the bass) are what most capure my attention. Interesting that my SACD 1000 should produce completely different results from the 775 ...Perhaps there is something to be said for Euphonics...
