But it doesn't even have to be "electrical tape". Just be sure to use a good quality name-brand tape with a strong adhesive backing. Clear Scotch tape, for instance, may not be sticky enough to hang on to the porous foam of the Bowl pads for very long...
3/4" wide tape is the perfect width for the 7/8" wide flat outside section of the pads. Cut off a piece of tape long enough to wrap completely around the pads. Start at the bottom of the pads and work around to the bottom again so that the finishing seam is less visible. Pull the wrap firmly and straight, pressing down on the tape as it goes around to ensure good adhesion and to avoid wrinkling. It's not a difficult job for most people, but work carefully because you don't want to remove and replace the tape too many times and risk tearing the foam.
What does the mod do? Basically, it alters the reflective/absorptive properties of the pads.
If applied correctly the tape looks OK
