The issues that some people notice as they increase the volume are: 1) some softness/flabbiness in the bass, 2) some darkening and loss of high frequency detail, 3) some coarsening of upper meds. These issues worsen as level increases.To me, it's not so much a matter of increasing the ultimate volume, although the mod does do that, but more a matter of improving the sound quality within the envelope. By eliminating the signal current drain from the plate resistors, I feel the sound quality is improved.
