HD600 is more tonally neutral and better for classical according to many reports.
The 600 is a classic, in production for nearly 20 years, for good reason. Back over at head-fi.org, there are quite a number of posts with reports like "oh I started with my 600s and then tried x,y,z,a,b,c but I frequently keep on coming back to the 600". Me I have the HD580 which is a close predecessor to the HD600 and I feel the same way.
It's also significantly lighter than the magnetic planars, I think important for long-term late-night snoozing comfort.
