Stax 009 headphone ear pads.

I currently own Stax 007 headphones. Although the earpads create a cavity that is shaped like an ear, the pad can be rotated into any position. The pad is not uniform in thickness, so, rotating the pad changes the way the headphone fits on ones head and allows for a customizable fit to minimize air leakage from a poor fit. When the seal is tight, pressing on the earpiece or even sudden movement of the head results in a clicking sound (air forced out of a pressure relief valve).

I cannot tell if the OO9 has the same kind of earpads. It is important to me because I get a poor fit with the 007s when the pad is rotated into the default position (ear cutout matching the shape of an ear). I know that these kinds of phones sound quite poor if the seal is not really tight. Does anyone know if the pad has a non-uniform thickness or some other mechanism for assuring a tight fit?
