We don't have a good working list of amps yet. But here are some findings:
• TOP END AMP- Driving the 100dB sens compression driver directly allows the use of virtually any amp for this part of the speaker. Therefore SET amps will work. The jury is out as to the sound of this combo. We know large amps such as the ICEpower 1000W monoblocks sound very good as well as class A/B linear amps. Low noise is very important here with such high sensitivity. The First Watt amp may be a very good candidate.
• BOTTOM END AMP- Since the bass amp is operating below 1kHz only, the sound quality requirements are less critical. EQ boosting is added to the woofers by the DSP, so flea size amps will not work. The load impedance is 4 Ohms. We have found that every decent solid state amp we have tried worked well in this range. 6550 based Push-Push tube amps also work well.
We will post more on this topic when we get more feedback from dealers and end users.
