I wondered who to ask for help, then I realized that AudioAsylum, to which I have belonged for years, might have the answers.
I have a nice Van Alstine power amp that was installed in a Stereo 120 enclosure.
Not the problem.
But the tons of gain of a PAT5 [non-F.E.T.] that I just purchased is
a big problem. Crack the volume just a bit, and it is blasting. First I thought that the unit was set for a low-output cartridge, but the problem exists from all inputs.
Otherwise, the sound is quite nice.
Any ideas? Thanks.
