New DVD-Audio music releases and talk about the latest players.

Correct Charles Yamaha Universal players from the S1700/S2700 are no longer made by Philips

Here is the inside of my Yamaha DVD-S1700 which has given me almost 2 years of trouble-free performance. I can not say the same thing for my previous players! It still plays every disc perfectly every single time and only takes seconds to read the TOC.

I bought it because the transport was whisper quiet, and it still is inaudible. I hate it when I hear that whirley-dirley disc spinning sound during quiet moments especially with Classical music. All of my previous units made transport noise, the worst being Toshiba DVD-Audio players.

Anyway I highly recommend the S-1700 which can be got cheap as it has been replaced by the S-1800 which one of the review I've read is even better, I might get an S-1800 as a back up player as soon as it has been out for a while and the price drops.

Just my experiences and opinions, yours may be different,
Teresa
