New DVD-Audio music releases and talk about the latest players.

I hate to tell you this, but...

...all of Panasonic's consumer DVD players and recorders with DVD-A support will only play the 2-channel stereo tracks on most DVD-A discs. And on those DVD-A discs with only multichannel content, the multiple channels will be downmixed to 2-channel stereo.

Moreover, any copy-protected DVD-A (this includes all major-label DVD-A discs) played through a digital output (coaxial or optical) will be downsampled to 48kHz sampling rate regardless of the program's originally encoded sampling rate.

As for Kal's response, all of the Panasonic consumer DVD players have only 2-channel stereo analog outputs. You will have to use a digital connection in order to use multichannel sound on those units.

Hope this helps,
