I don't mean to get in the middle of an argument, plus I don't know about MLP.But I do know you cannot just multiply out the data rates as you did, because there is significant error correction, which adds significantly to the number of total bits. There are also sync bits and subcode bits. In general, the overhead could easily turn 1.5 GBytes of raw data into 1.9 GBytes of DVD data.
