>First what makes you think that Stereophile doesn't take advantage of long
>terms loans? The dilemma that reviewers for all magazines, not just Stereophile, face
is that they need to keep reference products around to compare with the
products that they are writing about. To purchase everything needed is
not feasible. There is also the fact that manufacturers very often do not
want review samples returned promptly because continued mentions in
reviews of other products is beneficial. See the introduction to my
Parasound review linked below.>How long has J Atkinson had his Pass 60.8 amps?
The Pass Labs amplifiers left my system a long time ago.
I do try to purchase products that I intend to keep. I currently have the
following products on loan following the review, with the agreement
of the manufacturers and the understanding that they will be returned
when requested:
MBL N31 CD player/DAC
Parasound Halo JC1+ amplifiers
Pass Labs XP-32 preamplifier
AudioQuest Niagara 1000 and 5000 power conditioners.
HDPlex linear power supply for my Roon Nucleus+ (on loan from JVS)
Lots of cablesEverything else in my system that I mention in reviews I have purchased.
