I was exposed to high-end audio periodically in my younger years but could only afford mid-fi (NAD, Technics, Rotel, B&W). Sometime in the late '90s I heard an all Ayre system (K-1, D-1, and - I think - V-1) and it blew me away. Far and away the best system I'd ever heard. A few years later they came out with the AX-7 and it was in my price range. I slowly came to have my own all Ayre system. It gives me great pleasure whenever I listen to it, which is pretty much any evening I'm home.
