I'm not sure but I think everyone's missing

the point. Reversing ONE channel brings it into (or out of) "phase" with the other. Absolute polarity is quite another thing. That's when both channels are "pushing" when they should be pushing and "pulling" when they should be pulling.

Some are bothered by absolute polarity (or lack thereof) others are not. Most would, however, be bothered by speakers that are out of "phase" with one another.

I have never heard of recordings being made with one channel out of phase either.
