One interesting and relevant point that hasn’t been covered here is the increasing number of manufacturer’s who sell direct. The previews referred to are in fact two examples; Decware and AudioSector. Consumers interested in products with no dealer network, must rely on those aspects that are highlighted in the 6moons previews; design, build quality, price, and reputation to name a few. Of course, the typical 30 day trial is where one really learns about the sound, which is the equivalent of the review proper.Another aspect of the previews in question that appears to have slipped through the minds of some of our posters, is the Zen Taboo and Patek amps are purchases, not product in for review. As such, the form of “plug†you refer to is surely outweighed by this fact. Problematic? Every audio publication I read lists the reviewer’s equipment. The fact that that they may not have officially reviewed all their gear is beside the point; ownership = endorsement.
Given the benefit of the doubt, I’ll have to assume you are just not a very careful reader. Also, as evidenced in your response further down in this thread, you are not a very careful quoter. “†are meant to surround something someone actually said.
“saint†is not a quote of “that's near sainthoodâ€
This type of thing can be problematic. Here’s another example. You say:
“I'm probably just a foolâ€
Being as objective and impartial as I can muster, I'm not going to argue your point.
Cheers,
M
