I have an old Kit1 that I built in 1995, kitted out with tants, black gates & We 300b's.
Last year the mains tranny blew and took out the black gates on the 300b filaments and possibly other stuff. I have a friend, an audio engineer who would like to rebuild the kit for me. My eyesight not being what it was I agreed.

The question is, how much has the Kit1 changed since 1995?
Should I bring it up to the same spec as the present day Kit1?
Now black gates are no longer available what is the alternative?

Suggestions would be appreciated.
