those caps are used to filter out high frequencies outside the audible range - they are located between high voltage HT and ground - do they make a difference to sound? The amp will work fine without them - possibly you might be able to tell the sonic difference without them vs with them but the type of capacitor will not make a big difference - you basically dont want to put in expensive caps in these positions - you want caps that are very robust and can handle a constant 450v DC- Brian Smith
