RE: DAC 2.1 Flaming Failure

Hi!

It seems your snubber circuit blew up. The same thing happened to me some time ago, but in my case the capacitor/resistor combination was soldered to the transformer directly. An ugly smell came out of the box and the fuse blew. The snubber circuit is not essential for operation, that's why your DAC played on. I simply removed the resistor and capacitor.
I have since upgraded the DAC to 3.1 status, but the DAC was working flawlessly in the few months before the upgrade.
