They are made of steel top and bottom plates with 4 rectangular hollow columns which should be filled with a mix of fine lead shot and sand for best results. (I only recently did a pr with the mix instead of just sand, and it makes quite a difference!)Rigidity matters, as does mass. Spike the stands firmly to the floor, couple the cabinets to the top plate with Blutak.
