I'll add my .02.I bought a 3BSST amp 2 years ago and love it. ..Last year I decided to replace my 8yr old pre-amp (a B&K pro 10MC) with a Bryston BP-25. ..I had modified my B&K preamp by drilling & threading a tiny hole in the faceplate so that I could stick a small screw in the hole to act as part of a volume stop (to protect my speakers from overzealous house guests). I intended to make the same mod to my Bryston, but noticed that doing so would require that I first remove the pre-amp cover and all the knobs in order to remove the faceplate. ..I was fairly certain that this would void the warranty but figured I'd check anyway. ..To my surprise, James Tanner responded (email) that it would not impact it whatsoever - he just cautioned that I should remove the faceplate to drill the hole to avoid scratching it, etc..
This may seem trivial but I guarantee you that 90% of the manufacturers would decline warranty service on a component that had its cover removed - regardless of the nature of the mod. I agree, Bryston is definitely a cut above.
