Your amp can have the most mammoth power supply on earth (10KVA transformer and a whole FARAD of capacitance) and still sound like shit. A good circuit design is more important but it still has to be fed right (read as an effective power supply...especially for dynamic demands). There were plenty of nasty sounding amps from the 70's with big power supplies(and some good ones as well). While very few amps today sound outright nasty there is good and then superior. Most superior amps have big power supplies (or use a totally different concept like a switching supply or Class D) AND a good circuit design (usually simpler is better with less feedback). The Odyessey has a pretty big power supply. Are you sure its only 160Watts into 4 ohms??
