The reason for 200 watts for the sub is two fold. First the bass is usually where the most air has to be moved. Second the sub in your speaker is equalized with a lot of bass boost to reach down low. It's really not like 1200 watts for the rest of the speaker. Bass boost can easily be 10 times or more power in the deep bass compared to the upper bass.
