Many kinds of 'stainless' . Dozens of alloys, in fact.
300 series? 400 series? What's called '18-8' and many others. 18 is Chrome percentage and the 8 refers to nickel percentage.
many other possible alloying agents.
Some stainless may be magnetic while other alloys are NON-Magnetic.
Some stainless is not-so-good in salt water while other alloys are fine.
Spyderco makes a special tool for use around salt water, out of H1 Stainless. It WON'T stain and has other good characteristics for the knife maker.
