Where do you live? America is a Republic not a democracy. In a democracy your vote counts equally to everyone else's vote - the US does not have that or you would have a different president right now. It's a rigged set-up - which makes the side that happens to have won happy but a democracy she ain't.
Electing your dictator in four year cycles isn't much better anyway.
If you live in China - and you become a Red Party Member then you are basically wearing the Red Hat. You are on the "winning team." Think of it this way - a large portion of the US population who are "currently" on the winning team, until November anyway, are VERY HAPPY campers. And the rest of the people feel like they are living in a repressive state where you might be jailed for wanting control over your body - in a word all of these people feel like they have no power and may as well be living in China. You have freedom for 1 day every 4 years.
Ask those people who are currently on the winning team in the US if they ever want that to change. I think they would be VERY HAPPY if there was no more election and the main man was in charge until his death and then his son took over and his son and his son for rest of their lifetimes.
If the other team wins - then it's just all reversed. The current group who feels oppressed will now flip to the power role and the current happy campers will revert to feeling like they may live in China.
Freedom because you can vote every 4 years - is illusory.
It's actually worth your time to take a vacation to China and it isn't really the bogeyman you've been led to believe. After all - many Americans and Canadians have moved the China - they have opened businesses there. And yes China infringes copyright - blah blah - so do US companies versus US companies. It's called spying and stealing and reverse-engineering - it's done all over the world. All governments spy and all governments, if they want to, can learn everything there is to know about you.
Mind you if it makes you or others feel better to buy American then do so. but doing so won't stick it to President Xi. President Xi is still eating Filet Mignon and so will all the Red Party members.
