My good friend had an LS-27 and recently went to an LS-28. IMHO the LS-28 sounds better in every way. Specifically, better bass definition and soundstage depth. Plus it looks better to me. However I think a used Ref 5 is still better. But there is a bigger difference between the LS-27 and LS-28 than between the LS-28 and Ref 5.I have an LS-17 and would upgrade to any of the above.
