Hi Audioman, I own an SIA-025Mk1. The Mk2 had a minor upgrade to the output stage which increased capacitance & Kl.A/B power from 100 to 150 watts. Kl.A power remains the same (25 watts). Though bare in mind, Vitus measure their specs in 'true RMS' which is a tougher measurement. Also the 1.4kVa UI-core tranny has very low loss (max 1.5% tested) & very high current which makes it feel like a big 2kVa tranny. Hence, unless you have a very large listening room, or very inefficient speakers the amp can be left in Kl.A mode. I was driving a pair of Magico S5 Mk1's with the little Vitus & it never ran out of steam in my medium-large size room. Very impressive. My current Magico S5 Mk2's are a slightly easier load (than the Mk1's), so the Vitus is even happier.Fyi, running in Kl.A mode the amp will still automatically leave Kl.A, moving to Kl.A/B after 25 watts. When switched to Kl.A/B mode, the biasing changes to approx 5 watts Kl.A and 150 watts Kl.A/B. Therefore you could describe that mode as like a 'green mode' as it uses a lot less power at idle. But I would recommend leaving the amp in Kl.A most of the time. That's where the magic is. I just use Kl.A/B mode for background listening and DVD's.
To your question If the SIA-025Mk2 is worth the asking price, absolutely. It is the warmest sounding amp in the Signature series & is a sweety. Also, Vitus have moved to a new factory & invested in some new VERY expensive machinery which should improve quality control, capacity (incl: an even higher % of in-house manufacturing content) & further improve the reliability of what was already a very well built product.
Responding to an earlier question re: cable matching, the best cables i've found to pair with Vitus Signature series gear have been (In no particular order) Siltech Royal Signature and Crown series, Jorma and PAD. Also Magico LCC use MIT cables with a smattering of Vitus gear in their showroom. In my system I use Jorma Prime and Statement cables which sound natural, smooth, well balanced, resolving, warm (Prime) to neutral (Statement), harmonically rich & have a nice musical flow. My friend owns a lot of PAD Neptune series cables which sound warmer, even more liquid sounding & have very good midrange by all accounts. Neptune punches well above it's price point in build quality and sound. In fact, I plan to buy several pieces myself for my Oppo & a-b compare them to my Jorma wire. But that's another story!
