But shortly after I did, Ed Shilling from The Horn Shoppe came out with his "The Truth" line stage (details at the preceding link). I ordered one, knowing I could send it back if I wasn't satisfied, but after trying it, it wasn't going anywhere. My B1 kit is still sitting in the box, unassembled.
At least five years later, and Ed finally got his Truth reviewed (link below) by someone other than his customers who had bought one. Funny the effect an exemplary professional review has. Word is that Ed works hard keep up with the demand.
Even if you aren't interested in The Truth, there's a lot of good information about active vs. passive line stages, etc. in the review.
