1. Cold solder goes open when it heats up.
2. Output semiconductor goes open when it warms up.
To TEST?
Get a can of 'cold'
Open case if you have confidence you aren't going to ZAP yourself. The big PS caps will knock you on your ass if you aren't careful. METAL CANS CONDUCT!
When it malfunctions, a gentle (GENTLE) spritz to each output device in turn will disclose the offending device.
Same goes for cold solder joints, though there are many more to check......and they are probably more difficult to get to.
Cold Solder joints frequently look 'less shiney' then the good ones. Or are 'blobbed' up, not 'flowed' into the joinery.
Best bet? Take it to a tech and if HE can reproduce the problem (if you aren't over heating the amp for some 'stacking' reason?) he will probably deduct diagnosis fee from the final fix fee, should you elect to get it repaired.
Too much is never enough
