The phono is equivalent to something in which retails for-$3-400.

If you have an entry level table with a basic MM cart, good enough. Also one less box and cables

I had the phono option in a Prologue 2.I used a Schiit Mani $150(approx) as a back up while my tube phono was being repaired(for the HP)

Not bad, and you can use a LOMC. I would suggest that over the phono option.
