For me the V5-xe was a fine amp, but nothing really special or noteworthy, imo, at least compared to other amps I owned at the time. It was fine, just not a standout. The VX-5 is a standout. Just from memory compared to the V5, it is better in every way. But the most important to me is that it makes music compelling and mesmerizing. I did not get that from the V5-xe.
