I would probably say keep the Adcom. I was browsing a few seconds for you, did you ever check out Emotiva?
They have a clearance on their older flagship processor for $499
you should check it out, it's called the UMC-1
I've read about many happy owners of Emotiva products. Especially those beginning the game. I would always do separate components.
