I used the Emotiva UPA 1 with my MMG's and a Mapletree 2A SE tube preamp. The sound I was getting was very detailed , punchy, clear and precise but certainly not edgy as drive you out of the room edgy. Ultimately I determined that I prefer a warmer, lusher sound than what the UPA1's provided (I used Marantz before) and I replaced them with a Conrad Johnson MF 2300A amp which I'm very happy with but the small Emotiva monoblocks are very competent and certainly mesh well with the MMG's just not my preference in sound "style".

I moved the Emo's to my TV room with an USP 1 preamp and Advent speakers where my wife absolutely loves them because of the clear punchy sound that makes speech and such on tv and movies crystal clear and intelligible and they actually sounds the best I've ever heard with my ancient Original Large Advents.
