You shouldn't. An amp's input impedance is not a measure of how good it is, its sound quality is. Pass Labs have the same input impedance as your MacThe problem is your preamp and your preamp's output impedance (small coupling caps according to JA, bigger ones that are high quality cost $$$) so at low frequencies i.e. 20Hz the output impedance is 6800 ohms as opposed to 370 ohm at 10kHz consequently to get a 1:10 ratio between your amp and pre so you don’t have roll off you need an amp with an input impedance of 68K.
From your response I wasn’t sure if you understood that or not. Typically I like an even higher ratio 1:20, 1:50. The CAT SL1, VTL 6.5, Rogue’s are tube pre’s that have low output impedance, so do the old Sonic Frontiers Line series.
I would either get a new pre that has low output impedance and you could use it with any amp moving forward OR and new amp, with and high input impedance, I would shoot for 100k. As for a tube amp recommendation I would look at a Rogue Audio M180 (200k input imp.) or the Atlas Magnum. I using a pair of M180's to drive my Studio2’s and they’re very good.
