"I don't find high purity silver to be bright. If I could make a general characterization, silver offers a bit better clarity and focus over copper IMO."
Ditto that. I, too, have noticed the improvement with clarity, focus and sound staging. Cymbals are a joy and feel very real. I have stuck with using silver wiring in the preamp as well as the interconnects. Going broke to pay for solid silver speaker wire that would cost more than my total system is not going to happen. Balance and proportion is the name of the game.
Is it truly needed? Not really. It can be desirable. Like paper-in-oil coupling capacitors, Tantalum resistors and other endless tweaks. What's it worth to you? Your system only has to sound good to you.
