Hello,
These preamps (one is single ended(300) and another (450)is its fully balanced twin) work fantastically well with solid state amplifiers. "300" just in May issue of TAS received Harry Pearson "2010 HP Editor's Choice Award" for being most romantic (yet without euphonic coloration) line stage. I owned REX and I sold it for "300" about an year ago - its the best, most mucically involving preamp I ever auditioned (to be fair, REX is the 2nd !!!!)
The main reason why they fit for solid state amps is not electronics but psychology of the owners who afraid of "high maintance" of tube equipment. These preamps have standby feature so whenever you want to listen to music you just flip switch to "operate". Its tubes have very long life: 5 to 10 years and you buy them from J-E for $35 ea and they are the best in the world so there is go headacke of tube rolling. So, functionally these are transistor preamps except they are fully tubed (including power supplies).
If you use them with high input impedance power amp then life span of the tubes is twice longer.
All The Best
Rafael
