While I don't own an HK amp, I find that some of the attributes you mention (imaging, bass control, subtle dynamic things) almost fit verbatim my description of my ARC D-76a after restoration.

Now since I have never heard either the II or V, I can't comment on any sort of compare/contrast between HK and ARC, but as I said, interesting that you choose the same descriptive words as I do about amps from the "tube era" (although ARC was a bit of a renewal of the technology at the time- early/mid 70s...).

In any regard, it truly is about what makes one happy in this hobby, and I really am glad you've gotten more musical bliss out of it!!!
