The volume pot still seems to want to be a *little* higher on DVD playback than on CD, but I've been consistently reassured that this is normal. I think that my first two experiences with unexpectedly low levels were using discs that had been recorded in 5.1 and, for reasons better left unsaid, weren't actually down-mix'able to 2.0. As things stand I don't notice the level difference in a problematic way.
