The best amp is a neutral one, don't need any flowery language to hide coloration, so yes, for an amp, amplification without stress is all it has to do to be good in my books, the MX-1000 and MX-1 I have do exactly that, when connected to super analytical speakers like NS-1000x or M, they are truly what you need.
Not surprised at all with the old Kenwood blowing out the Bryston.
