And you're right about the AudioSource. A nice and inexpensive EQ. When I was using an EQ, I tried to use it as sparingly as possible. It was a very useful tool to fine-tune the sonics.But with my current system incarnation, there's an excellent synergy with everything & I think I've got my speaker placement just right, too. Good recordings sound their best on the system when everything is set flat, with the preamp "source direct" button engaged. (Basically the preamp is just being used as a volume control and source selector.) So I took my own AudioControl EQ out of the rack and it's sitting on the shelf. I must say that if you're lucky enough to get everything "right" without having to use EQ, it really is the best way to go.
