I do not claim the Son of Ampzilla 2000 is perfect!I do not know what it sounds like with ANY other combination of equipment nor do I care!
I have never heard the Ampzilla 2000 and do not believe it sounds exactly the same as the SON.
This amp does not cost $15,000.
The "Four Quadrant Symmetry" topology has only been succesfully done by James!
Almost no other power amp has a -135 dB noise level!
This is a "rare" amp that few have heard, and there are only a few opinions, on totally different systems.
I have owned no other speakers than the 6 ft Maggies since 1977, nor do I care to own any other brand. I do not feel the 20.1s are coherent across the audio band, and the image is Too Big!
I never used XLR connectors before, heard or used the PASS pre-amps before, or tried any phono loading other than 1k ohm. I have not changed anything since first put the PASS amps and Son in my system.
My first real good system, that I used from 1977 to 1985 had MG IIa speakers, GAS thoebe, original Son of Amzilla, and Sleeping beauty MC cartridges. I am partial to those components. Every Lp I owned sounded at least good. I got many complements on that sound, and NOBODY complained!
The cost of most all "so called" very good components today is ABSURDLY HIGH!
I have owned this amp for only 3 weeks. This is a first cut!
Very few components over the last 30 years have given have given me a thrill! I have heard many, many systems that "claimed" to be good, that I thought were terrible.
Everybody has their own opinons on sound and a different experience! The only purpose of audio is to get your own "best" experience.
Communicating your experience is always hard, and opens you up to much disagreement.
My system sounds better now "OVERALL" than I have ever heard!
If you do not think I know what "Good - Real" sound is, I do not Give A Damn!
