The older Apogees are an absolute $#%# to drive. I would not use anything other than some serious class-A beast of a SS amp with those. Tube amps, no matter what the power rating, just don't cut it with those Apogees.However, with great speakers with high sensitivity/benign load, I still favor a great tube amp (I prefer Push-pull these days). In this scenario, it's the SS amps that leave a "glueon"
