Since the baby is now 9 months, I have a bit more time to devote to my first baby; little maggie
Recently I bought a H20 S250 ice power based Class D amp. Though I am using it xovered at 325hz, 48db octave (for the mids/highs)I noticed a huge improvement to the bass. I noticed the amp has a very high "damping factor", that I believe means it has "traction" and better "grip" making thae panel go where the waveform directs rather than flap around. Also, the "liquid nature" of this amp helps to avoid listener fatige. However, I noticed less detail in the highs.
Anyhow, I don't know if this is the best amp for this purpose, I do like what it does for the warmth though. So now I want to do the same for the bass panel. I remenber Hemholtz used the Crown K2 for the low end, and am seriously looking at this or other options. I am ordering the XLR upgrade for my DEQX (so I can use the full balanced nature of the H20), so that should give me more options. However, I think my ribbon is better off w/ class A, or A/B. I have a extra threshold 400a, as well as the outlaw 755 that I use for HT.
Soon I intend to go full 4way (HSU 1220s on the bottom w/ the crown 300a)and need to decide on the bass panel amp, and ribbon amp. As always, trying to get value and performance. Looks/prestige not a concern. Less than 2k for the amp, if I could please.
Any advice would be greatly appriciated...
