I am a completely new audiophile but have been a musicial for yearsI too was skeptical on how much improvement could be made -- but the stock stands allow marked rocking to occur manually -- all the "box" speakers I have had in the past were very solid to the ground compared to the 3.6s -- plus the 3.6s have such a relative large surface area

Adding stands (besides good placement) has created the greatest inprovement in my sound over power changes, cable changes, and CD players
