I tried a similar comparison several years ago, with Dale golden alu container wire resistors, Roederstein metal oxyde and normal ceramic case wirewound res.
I came to the same conclusion, and found the effect compared to the already much better than average WK 5 metal oxyde res. from Roederstein quite remarkable. The wire wounds are often magnetic, and because of this or something else they add glare and a strained quality.It would be quite interesting if the Caddocks would not sound better without the cooling fins. These trap magnetic fields and eddy currents. If possible do without it, or any metal close to a conductor. Except in transformers, where the magnetic interaction is neede and used...
