Mart,The baffle is tapered and shaped like a triangle and only goes approximately two-thirds the way up the speaker panels looking from the side. It is not closed like a box but is still open from behind. Looking from the top of the speaker, three sides of the box would be formed while the fourth side is open and facing the back wall. Hope this description helps you out.
