2 words: "inverted polarity"

CJ products are notorious for this. This is easily rectified. Just simply swap the polarity back at the speaker terminals, or turn the speakers around. The latter option mayn't be the most aesthetic course, but you'll get more treble extension & resolution.

PS: I usually recommend corner placement for acoustically problematic rooms. It automatically diffuses many room interference patterns through oblique reflections.
