...on a poweramp, the Sanders Magtech stereo.. Rated at 500WCP into 8 and 900 into 4, it'll have PLENTY of power and, if one can believe the reviewers, both private and public, it's excellent in all other sonic attributes, too.. Roger Sanders cautioned me against using monoamps since most such amps are designed by bridging the two channels of a stereo amp.. Hence each half of such an amp drives only one-half of the speaker load and may not drive the very-low-impedance treble.. I'll have the amp before the speakers arrive, so we'll see how it sounds on the Vandersteen 7.2s.
Another distinct advantage of the Magtech is its low weight of 55 pounds, which means I can lift it! I can't do so with the 105-pound PS Audio BHK M600 and could barely do so with a Pass X260.8 or an Aesthetix Atlas Eclipse.
FWIW, I decided against a pair of Benchmark AHB2s bridged to mono; a conrad-johnson ET250S*, the latter after reading a review in which the amp did not sound good driving ELSs; and a pair of Pass X260.8s that sounded fabulous but heated my room so much I couldn't tolerate it, even with an extra fan blowing cool air in.
* ET means enhanced triode and S means stereo.
