I am afraid I am of no use, mate. If I read your post correctly, it is like you have a HP filter (series cap) on the bass, which obviously does not make a lot of sense. Since what you describe is on both bass channels it probably is not a problem with the speakers or amplifiers. The only shared component is the mini-DSP but I have no clue as to what is wrong. I would suggest your friend should offer some burnt sacrifice to the audio gods and pray for forgiveness for whatever transgression he may have committed in this life or the last.
